Screencasting in Fourth Grade

Students in Ms. Hall’s fourth grade class are working on creating their own Google Site to house content they’ll create throughout this school year. Last week they added a Google Slides presentation they created on figurative language. This week, they were introduced to screencasting. As a practice run, students took a picture of a classmate’s math problem using the Dell webcam. They saved the picture to their desktop. Next, they opened up ActivInspire and used the screen recorder feature. They practiced explaining the math problem in their own words and used the tools within ActivInspire to highlight parts on which they wanted to focus, all while they were recording. Afterwards, they saved the video to their desktop and uploaded it to their Google Drive account. Finally, I showed them how to import the video into their Google Site.
