App Smash with Book Creator & Shadow Puppet

The weather was gorgeous yesterday afternoon, so my daughter went outside and wrote a story about our backyard garden. She wrote and illustrated, but wanted to pick flowers and peppers to tape to her writing. Instead, she used the iPad to take pictures of the plants and write a digital story that she could share with her grandparents. Book Creator is an awesome app for creating stories. Students can add pictures, text, draw, and record their voice. When exported as a movie, it behaves a lot like a slideshow by fading out of one page and into the next. It looked fine, but she likes to use the icons in Shadow Puppet to guide the reader as she reads, so we pulled pictures of her book into Shadow Puppet for her to record her voice. The finished video was cute and very easy to share. As you are talking about the seasons, how much fun would it be to have students go out and take pictures of the fall foliage, leaves on the ground, etc. and write and narrate their own stories for each season? If this is something you would like to try, please sign up for a lesson!
