Today would have been Rosa Parks’ 101st birthday. In honor of her birthday, I wanted to post a fun project I did while I was a classroom teacher years back.
My first year doing this project we made Tableaus. The students had to act out their own scene of an important event that happened in a Famous American’s life using a variation of the French Art Form of Tableau. As you can see, the students really got into it!
My second year in the classroom, I took myself out of the equation and had the students create their own “Mini-Movies”. We even took it a step further, and the students brought in props and costumes to spice up their movies!
The best part about making these movies–THE BLOOPERS! The students loved watching this movie because it is obviously hilarious, but it also gave the students a sense that it is okay to mess up in school. We roll through the mistakes and learn from them…. and they’re hilarious. Did I mention that? “School Bus?????” Just watch, you’ll get it…. If you’d like to try this project out in your classroom, check my calendar and sign up for a time with me when I am at your school!
