Our Jaguars have been busy doing lots of great things the last few months through the school counseling program.  We’ve been part of the Christmas Mother Collection, our YMM students ran their second race, and 5th graders took part in a world wide peace project!  Way to work hard Jaguars!  I hope everyone has a relaxing break!race day

IB Applications

Hi Johnson Jaguars!

Believe it or not, it is now time for our 5th graders to think about middle school choices!  The International Baccalaureate Program applications will be available starting Wednesday, September 24th!  I will be speaking to 5th grade classes about the program next week.  Check out my blog page “Middle School Transitions” for more information about the application process.  Also, watch this video to hear from students at Tuckahoe:  IB Middle Years Program.

Wild About Learning!

Welcome back students, teachers, and parents!! This year our theme is “Wild About Learning!”

I am WILDLY excited about a new program that I am starting this year with the help of Coach Keeton and Coach Thompson!  We will be running a program called Young Men In Motion.  Teachers will choose 10 4th and 5th grade boys to participate in this running and character building club!  We will be training after school to run the Nutzy 5k on December 6th.  Student will have sponsors who will support them in their running and behavior goals.

As a new school year begins, please remember to set a good schedule for your children at home for homework and getting to bed on time.  Make sure they have a homework space and routine in place to get this done.   This will help them to be WILDY successful.

Our first character trait this year is RESPECT.  I can’t wait to get into the classrooms and start talking about how we can show our Johnson Respect this year.  Also, welcome to our newest Jaguars!  I will have new student groups running September 8th-19th.   I can’t wait for you to be part of our Johnson family!

Career Day 2014!

Johnson had our annual Career Day on April 11th!  Thank you to all of our phenomenal volunteers who made this day possible! Students dressed up experienced rotations to 12 different career volunteers in the morning.  They learned a ton and had a blast!  In the afternoon, we welcomed Melissa Chase to our Jaguar Jamboree to talk about her job as a radio DJ!  Selected students even got to ask her questions about her job! Check out the fun!
