About Me

This is my 15th year at THES. I’ve taught fourth and fifth grades. I was the New Teacher of the Year at THES in 2008 and Teacher of the Year at THES in 2014. Before teaching, I was a print journalist for more than 25 years. I received my bachelor’s degree in Communications from Florida Southern College in Lakeland, Florida, and my Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Applied Studies from the University of Richmond. I have an endorsement in gifted education from the University of Virginia.

I am married to an attorney and have two children. My daughter lives in Richmond, and my son is a junior at Randolph-Macon College. I enjoy spending time with my family as well as reading, listening to music, catching a movie, and watching most anything to do with sports (especially the Dallas Cowboys).
