Non-standard Measurement with Kindergarten
The kindergarten students at Longan Elementary explored non-standard measurement through the use of the Pixie program and a website. They measured different objects with virtual paper clips. They did a great job and LOVED the website!

ActiVotes with 5th grade at Varina

Making Arrays in Pixie
Ms. Byrd (Ridge Elementary) came up with this great idea, making multiplication arrays in Pixie. We used the stamper tool and each student had a different problem to illustrate. Click here for the Pixie Template.
First Grade Shapes
Mrs. Flowe (1st Grade Teacher at Twin Hickory) had the cutest student projects on the bulletin board in the hall. For their study of shapes, she had students make animals using shapes in Pixie. I like to spotlight good ideas and this is a very cute one. Here is one sample:
Civil War Diaries
5th Grade students at Shady Grove have transformed themselves into Civil War Soldiers. We used Pixie to decorate our uniforms (some chose the North, others chose the South) See sample below:

Using Spreadsheets for Grades
4th Graders at Ridge couldn’t understand how one bad grade could mess up their average. We did a spreadsheet on spelling grades, and used the averaging feature in Numbers to see what our grade was. Click here to get the formatted template.
