A select group of Montrose 5th graders have been working hard over the last several weeks to read a Roald Dahl novel of their choice. After reading their novel, they conducted research about Roald Dahl to understand why he writes the way he does. The overarching theme in all of the novels was that the adults are mean to the kids, and the students figured out that this stemmed from his experience in a variety of boarding schools in England. Next they began drawing their backdrops for the different scenes they wanted to discuss in their video. They also had to mold the main characters and props out of clay. We then used the Stop Motion app on the iPads to take hundreds of pictures to create a movie to summarize the book that they read. After the had all of their clips, they figured out how to adjust the speed of the video so that they had time to record their summary. Take a look at their awesome finished videos!
