Sweets to Share Fraction Shop

The students in Mrs. Myers 2nd grade class had a sweet lesson today! Using Nearpod, they went to the Sweets to Share Shop and helped customers divide their desserts evenly in order to share them with their friends. They split a chocolate cookie in half, a banana split into thirds, a donut into fourths, a sheet cake into sixths, a chocolate bar into eighths, and a pie into tenths. Using the drawing feature in Nearpod, they were able to annotate on the picture to show how they would split it and then send it to the teacher’s computer. Toward the end of the lesson, they had to identify how much of each picture was shaded and write the correct fraction. They did a great job and really enjoyed practicing with fractions in a new way!
