Today’s iPad Lessons @ GAES

I started off the morning co-teaching with librarian, Theresa Harris. We worked with 1st grade on nouns. Using PicCollage and Tellagami, students created these adorable videos. We were both impressed with how well they worked in partners! Way to go, 1st graders :) Also, way to go, Mrs. Harris! She said the apps were so easy to use that she didn’t need to write down the steps. Next week she will use some of the same apps with her other classes on her own…love that!

Next, I visited Mrs. Ives’ 4th grade. She had her students research an occupation and construct a building from the colonial times. Students took a picture of their structure and loaded it as a background in Tellagami. They designed and changed the position of their avatar before recording their paragraph that Mrs. Ives had them prepare before I came to their class. Super cute projects, 4th grade!

Miss Thayer’s 3rd graders have been studying Ancient Rome. Before I came in, Miss Thayer had her students write up a short script. We first navigated to One Search for students to find an image through Britannica’s Image Quest that would go along with their paragraph. They saved their image to the camera roll and imported it into the app, YakIt Kids. The students added a nose and mouth to their pictures before recording. I LOVE all of the wonderful information they provided in their movie. Take a look:
