Hooray For Arrays!

Our new Math on the Spot episode is up, and it’s pretty delicious if I do say so myself!  We had a blast working with the students and teachers at Glen Allen High School!  We teamed up with the ITRT at Glen Allen High School, Drew Baker, to work with the Family and Consumer Sciences teacher Mrs. Katz.  Mrs. Katz was so amazing!  She not only selected students to work with us in the video, but she was willing to be interviewed, AND she set up everything for Jim’s “birthday party.”

We wanted to focus on the concept of multiplication, arrays in particular.  While writing the episode we thought it would be good to work on mult-step problems as well since this topic is the perfect introduction to that tricky concept.  I hope you enjoy all of the hard work that my fellow ITRTs and the students/teachers at Glen Allen High School put into making this video.  Check out this and all of our real world math videos at blogs.henrico.k12.va.us/MathSpot.  There are interactive activities that are included with each episode for students to complete.  Have fun with your students by incorporating these videos into your math instruction!  More will be coming soon, so be sure to subscribe to the Math on the Spot blog to keep up with all of the awesome resources!
