Today in Kindergarten at Greenwood, we used Zing! leveled texts for reading stations. In their small reading groups, the teacher selected a book appropriate for their reading level and added it to her library in Zing! Then students took turns reading a couple pages from the book. When they got to a word that they stumbled on, they highlighted the word so the teacher could look back and see which words they still needed to practice. The students loved navigating through the text on the Promethean Board and they worked well together by allowing the person at the board to try to decode the words prior to jumping in with the pronunciation of the word. I modeled one station with the students and asked some comprehension questions after they read. Then they did the next story independently with their classmates.
