Cells can be a pretty abstract topic for 5th grade students. With the help of Nearpod, we were able to bring cells to life for the 5th Grade students at Greenwood today. They watched videos, explored interactive cells on various websites, and labeled cells and filled in the blanks to demonstrate their understanding of the topic. Take a look at the lesson we did today:
I also showed the teachers Zing! As I mentioned in my previous post, Zing! is a free resource for teachers and gives you access to hundreds of leveled texts. I searched Zing! by topic and reading level and was able to find 4 great leveled readers on Cells! This could be an awesome, cross-curricular resource to incorporate into your reading stations, while exposing students to the science content they need to know.
