Math on the Spot

I just wanted to remind teachers about an amazing resource called Math on the Spot that Elementary ITRT’s are creating lesson by lesson. This is a project that has been funded by the Henrico Education Foundation in which we are taking math SOL’s and bringing them to life with real world connections. So far we have filmed a probability lesson to show tree diagrams of the different yogurt flavor combinations.

We have also filmed the Wheels of Time to go along with elapsed time and the world famous UCI bike rice.

In each video we teach students the math concept and then provide them an opportunity to try a similar problem on their own. We call this the Spot Check. Students can try it on their own and then check their work to see if they understood the concept. This could be a great, ready to go station activity to tie in with your math rotations. Enjoy!!
