Today, 2nd grade students at Trevvett used popplet.com on the laptops to do their word study sorts. To avoid having to log in, students did the “Try It” version. They create a popple for each word, color coded the box based on the feature, and sorted the words. When they were finished, they used the snipping tool to take a screen shot of their sort and then upload their completed sort to a Padlet wall. According to the students, they loved “typing their words”, “changing the colors,” and “seeing everyone’s sort on the padlet wall.” My favorite moment was when a student opened another student’s sort from the padlet wall and gave him a compliment on how nice his sort looked and how he got it all correct.
