PicKids and Shadow Puppets with Our Five Senses

First grade students at Johnson Elementary spent some time this week reviewing their five senses. I got invited into their classroom to help create a digital project. First graders in Mrs. Gill and Mrs. Meier’s classes used the app Pic Collage Kids to label what parts of their body they use for their five senses. We started by partnering them up and taking a picture of each pair of students. The kids were encouraged to keep their hand close by their face so it would show up in their picture. After taking their pictures we launched the Pic Kids app. Together we changed their backgrounds, brought in their picture from the camera roll and then used the text feature to label their five senses. Check out their awesome pictures.

Later that day students in Mrs. Galanides’ class used a different app to make a short movie about their five senses. We also partnered the students up and took pictures of the pairs. Then we launched the Shadow Puppet app. The students uploaded their picture, most added a title and quick transition. Finally they recorded themselves describing their five senses. When they were speaking they used the wand feature to draw on the screen and circle the part they were describing. Below you will find their videos. Great work Johnson Jaguars!
