Mrs. Farmer invited me into her classroom on Monday to help review money with some small groups. She wanted them to create something on the iPads. I started brainstorming and checking with some other ITRT’s and found a great lesson that Julie Smith did with some first graders at Highland Springs Elementary. We followed their lead and used two apps to identify and label different coins. We started by using the app SchoolKit, we used the stamp feature to stamp out a penny, nickel, dime and quarter. We then used the pen tool to label the coin’s value. We took a screenshot of our work and uploaded the image to our second app, Sticky. We labeled each coin and then added a selfie to our finished product. Check out some examples of their work.
