First grade teachers, Mrs. Taylor and Mrs. Waite, combined their two classes for a fun filled writing lesson today! Students partnered up..one partner from Mrs. Taylor’s class and one partner from Mrs. Waite’s class. First, we visited the webcam site: Fun Face Cam. This site has a TON of different frames, backgrounds and even hair-dos. The teachers wanted to do something with a “spring theme” so I found five different cams the kids could use and put a link to each of the cams in the Student Server. I did this because some of the cams on the site could be slightly questionable….
The kids chose the cam they wanted to use and they each took their picture and saved it to their desktop. Next, we visited a collaborative Google Doc and the students imported their picture to an assigned slide. (Note: students must be signed into their Google accounts in order to add pictures to slides) Finally, the students worked together to write “creative” sentences about their pictures as they double checked to make sure they had proper capitalization and puncuation.
