Area and Perimeter App Smash

Third graders at Highland Springs Elementary have been learning about area and perimeter in math. Today we worked with the apps Geoboard and Educreations to solve a task card problem that the students were assigned. We gave each child one of {THESE} task cards and had them use the digital 25 peg geoboard to create a visual representation. (NOTE: It was very important to give them 5 minutes of “free” time on the app, Geoboard, before starting this lesson. That way they learned how to form shapes with one rubber band, color code sides and play with the shading tool) Once students created their visual representation they took a screenshot of their geoboard and imported it into the app, Educreations, to explain their thinking.
