Hour of Code at Kaechele

Today we started the Hour of Code at Kaechele Elementary and it was a blast! I went into three fifth grade classrooms and a fourth grade room as well. We had the students working from Code.org and the students LOVED it!  I quickly showed them how to start and they were ready to roll.  It was great hearing the students helping each other when they were stuck, and cheering when they got it right.  Some of the teachers even joined in!  I cannot stress how easy it is to start incorporating coding into your class with these tools.  The fifth graders that learned how to code today will be going into other classrooms this week to assist teachers in teaching these lessons!

Giving young students the opportunity to begin coding is an amazing thing that more teachers should be taking advantage of.  If you aren’t comfortable leading a coding lesson in your class just let me know and I’ll come in to help!
