Arrays in Google Drawing and Movie Maker

Today in Mrs. Reed’s third grade class at Short Pump Elementary School we made arrays! They are just beginning their multiplication unit, so they are familiar with arrays and how they work. I paired the students up and made a Google Drawing for each group before the lesson and put them in the teacher’s folder on the server for easy access. The students did not log into Google so we couldn’t use the chat feature, instead to communicate to their partners they made a text box that served as their chat window. Here they were able to communicate what they wanted to do even though they were located across the room from one another.

Once the groups had their arrays completed we used the Snipping Tool to take a screen shot of the array. We saved the screen shot onto the student desktops and then imported them into Windows Movie Maker. The students each made a video out of their array by adding a title slide and a voice over. Check out some great examples below!
