Earlier this year Mrs. Wash’s 2nd grade class put their map making skills to the test by making their own towns. We used an online map maker to have the students make their town. I really like this tool because it is SO simple and the kids love it. It also includes a couple of crucial details that are important for our students such as a map legend and compass rose. Once the students made their town they used the Snipping Tool to take a screenshot of their map. After they had their screenshots the students brought that into Comic Life.

Within Comic Life the students labeled their map legend and compass rose. They also put the definition for community, and gave an example of where one might live, work, or play. They did such a fantastic job!
