When students are done with a writing assignment they can record themselves reading it to not only practice their reading fluency, but also to assist with their writing editing. Students always enjoy seeing themselves on camera so the Dell Webcam is a great tool to use to take a quick video of themselves reading. The video can be saved by dragging it directly to the desktop. The Dell Webcam software is not part of the image, but can be added by going to the Software Center. Audacity and Vocaroo.com can both be used to do a voice recording. Audacity is on the image so students can search for it in the start menu. In order to save their recording, they will need to choose File – Export and save the recording on their desktop. Vocaroo.com is an online voice recording that stores the sound on the site and gives the students a link that they can directly place on a document. Both the video file and the Audacity sound files can be uploaded directly into the student’s Google account for safe keeping and to share with the teacher!! Enjoy!
