Fifth grade students in Mrs. Jarvis, Mrs. Bloomquest and Mrs. Basham’s classes have been working on various reading strategies since returning to school. This week they have been focusing on summarizing stories. They have been identifying the “somebody, wanted, but, so, then” elements within each story. Each class focused on a different picture book this week. After reading the book together as a class they worked independently to write their own summary. After their summaries were completed the students used a classroom iPad to take pictures of the various illustrations in their books. They then recorded their summaries using Online Voice Recorder. After the illustrations and summaries were all complete their work was dumped onto a new Dell laptop and a movie was made using Windows Movie Maker. Take a minute to see their finish product!
