At your upcoming Open House and Back to School night a few weeks later, parents are always given massive amounts of paper work and given opportunities to sign up for ways to help out in the classroom. Many times this paper work can be hard to keep up with by the parents AND the teachers.
Enter the simple and easy to use QR codes to make life easier. Using a mobile phone to scan a QR code to a website, parents can simply bookmark these websites for later reference. Simply create your QR codes and post outside your classroom, on your door, on a bulletin board, or anywhere around the classroom!
There are all kinds of QR Code Generator Websites. These are a few that I like to use:
http://goqr.me – Simply Black and White QR Codes
http://www.qrstuff.com – Add some color to your QR Codes
https://www.unitag.io/qrcode – Allows images/colors to be apart of your QR Codes (The QR Code image in this blog post was made on this site)
After your pick your favorite generating site to create your QR Codes, its time to figure out what are some ways you can use them for your Open House and Back to School Night. Here are just a few:
1. Link to your class website or blog page
2. Contact Information: Create a Google Form, and have parents fill out their info, and it will organize it directly into a Google Spreadsheet for you
3. Link to a Class Google Calendar of events, so parents can keep up with what is going on throughout the year.
4. Link to student work and videos to make an “Interactive Back to School Night”
5. The possibilities are endless!
