Mark your calendars to attend the Henrico 21 Awards Ceremony at Glen Allen High School which will begin right after the Student 21 Fair at 6:30 PM.  Support Henrico’s teachers and our colleagues as they are recognized for the awesome 21st century projects and lessons they have integrated into their instruction.  Come and see how easy it is to add a little technology “umpff” to your lessons and projects that will stimulate students into thinking critically, formulating questions out of their natural curiosities, solving authentic problems through collaboration using web 2.o resources, and creating innovative assignments and projects with the freedom of their minds’ creativity.  Learn how easy is it to find “experts” across the globe who are willing to reach out and help our students prepare for their unknown futures as technology constantly and rapidly, evolves and emerges.  Find out how communication resources such as Skype can bring lessons to life, such as having the CEO of G23D Studios, Kyle Gomboy, directly help 4th graders with an on-going 3D virtual world creation project, having Saint Louis University’s Associate VP of Graduate Studies and International Affairs interact with first graders as an Eleanor Roosevelt “expert”, and Dr. James Cornelius, Curator of the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library in Springfield, Illinois, show first grade students real Abraham Lincoln artifacts, such as his hat made of beaver fur.

It will be an exciting night!  If you complete the Student 21 Fair “treasure hunt”, your name will be entered into the drawing for a variety of really COOL prizes during the Henrico 21 teacher awards part of the event.  Refreshments will be served, and we will have interactive game and activity stations to entertain the entire family!  Most importantly, your attendance will show your support for your school, for your colleagues, for your students, and for our Premiere school division, HCPS. :)
