Today we were rockin’ and rollin’ with FUN technology lessons at Chamberlayne Elementary. I kicked off the morning in Mrs. Hembrick’s 2nd grade class creating picture messages about Ancient China’s inventions. Students chose a template (boy or girl) that ITRT, Stephanie Wright, had given me. The children took a picture of their face to put on the body and then located pictures that represented China’s inventions (silk, compass, bronze, kite and fireworks) to add to their scene. Finally, they colored their clothes to their liking with different colors and patterns and recorded themselves talking about Ancient China. This was a super easy but FUN lesson that the children enjoyed. Check out their work:

Later in the morning I traveled to 3rd grade to work on double digit multiplication. Ms. Hand and Ms. Southworth wanted to reinforce the process of double digit multiplication so we made animated Keynote presentations! Students created their own multiplication problems and used the inspector tool to animate the process of two digit multiplication. Finally the students recorded themselves presenting their Keynotes as if they were the teacher. Check out Dylan’s presentation:
I wrapped up the day in Ms. Curfman’s second grade class who is studying magnets. Ms. Curfman wanted her students to create a representation of magnets attracting and repelling using the program, Pixie. We had students pull up a blank Pixie template and go to town. They had to include four magnets (2 attracting and 2 repelling), four arrows and the two magnet terms. Then they added their name and picture. I wanted the students to create an animated movie of their creations but we ran out of time. However, their pictures were adorable and the concept of attracting and repelling was mastered.
