Back in December, I talked to 1st grade teacher, Mrs. Givens, about Aurasma. I made her a few examples to show the possibilities. Without hesitation, Mrs. Givens took the challenge head on. Not only did she add this new tool to her classroom, but she taught her grade level how to use it. As an entire grade level, each class researched different types of motion that they might find around their houses. Each student then cut out picture examples from magazines and newspapers for every part of a house from the kitchen, bedroom, garage, and more! Each class then made a huge house out of bulletin board paper, pasting the cut out pictures into the different parts of the house. Each student then recording themselves explaining what type of motion their objects used. Using the studio.aurasma website, each teacher attached the students’ videos to their pictures. During parent conferences this week, the teachers hung directions for the parents on how to download and follow their class channels. Parents had a blast watching the kids’ videos and work! Here’s a quick clip of what the teachers had set up in the hallway!
