If you are a Shark Tank fan, you probably already know all about this app, have downloaded it, and made a bunch 360° panoramic pictures already! If you haven’t seen the show, this is probably one of the coolest apps I have ever seen specifically for the iPhone 5 and 5s and some Android models, but you can use a guided mode with all versions. I am not a proponent of talking about paid apps, either, but I really think this one is worth the $1.99 in the App Store.
Basically what the app does when using a 5 or 5s is take pictures automatically for you using a handsfree mode. While taking these pictures, the phone uses its vibration function to turn the phone in a circle all while taking pictures. Once it has made a full 360° rotation, the app stitches the pictures together to make the 360° Panoramic Picture. You can also use the a video feature and take a 360° Panoramic Video. The only part I dislike about the video is that it suffers from Vertical Video Syndrome.
I talked about the app with my co-workers and made my cohort who owns a iPhone 5 buy the app so we could play with it this afternoon. Thanks Big Jim! Check out this short video of the app making the phone move, and then the two examples of a picture and a movie. What are some ways that this app could be used in the classroom? My first vision was to take pictures at various field trip locations for the students to see, but I am sure there a so many ideas awesome out of the box thinking educators like yourself could come with! What do you think?!
