I just read a great blog post from Candace Hackett Shively titled “A TechToy Story: Why Tech Geeks fail and EdTech Coaches succeed”. It is a great “fable” showcasing the difference between just knowing a lot about technology and being able work with teachers to seamlessly integrate technology into the classroom.

We all know that technology can be a huge help in the classroom, but without truly understanding it’s usefulness and how to implement it successfully, it can backfire in a heartbeat. When I first started to see the effectiveness of using technology in the classroom, I was hooked. Since then, it has always been fun and exciting for me to try new and innovative ways to motivate and inspire students’ critical thinking, creativity, and collaboration in and out of the classroom.

Sometimes I know I might come off as a Tech Geek, but this only because I get excited about implementing different tools with students. For all my Henrico Teachers, if you are looking to try and implement something into your classroom, check my calendar, and then sign up for a time with me when I am at your school. I look forward to working with you and continuing to be that EdTech Coach helping to motivate and inspiring your students’ learning!
