Shapes and Bridges

Kg were studying shapes. Instead of asking what shapes do we have around us, I asked why are certain shapes used around us. Bridges seemed like a good place to start. We looked at numerous pictures of famous bridges and observed what shapes were used. Conclusion…rectangles and triangles were used most of the time. I then challenged the students to build a bridge using any shapes they wanted. It was a good time with critical thinking.
