Remind 101 – Private Texting to Students & Parents

Getting out quick and important information to parents and students can sometimes fall through the cracks. The note was lost in the backpack, we didn’t have internet access to check the blog, the message was lost in translations, etc. The list goes on and on.

Welcome Remind 101. Remind 101 is a program to easily text message your parents (and students) for quick reminders. To make an account, go to remind101.com and click get started. Once you create your account, you will make your first class. When your class is created, Remind 101 creates a unique phone number and message for your parents, students, or whomever. Give the phone number and unique message for your followers to text. Once they do this, they will be prompted in text message to finish setting up their reminders.

This program is a great way to get quick messages out to parents in a way that they prefer. If you have parents aren’t into texting or who are worried about text messaging rates with their cell phone carrier, Remind 101 also has an option to receive the reminders via email as well. If your parents don’t want to receive reminders either by text or email (I don’t see why), you can also add a widget to your blog like the one I have.

If you are interested in chatting more about how to go about using this in your classroom, click on Mr. Hart on the right, and shoot me an email!
