Post to Your Blog From Email!

Teachers are always trying to find new ways to cut down on their work flow. With classroom blogs becoming more of the norm, many teachers are finding it hard to keep up with updating their blog page with everything else they have to do. That being said, it is really easy to write a quick email. What if you could write an email to your blog, and in doing so, the email sent would become the updated blog post? Well you can! With just a few clicks and an account set up, you can make it happen! This blog post itself was written from my email!
Click Here to download a PDF version of the directions:

1. Go to to http://wordpress.com and make an account.
2. Go to your Blog Dashboard and activate the Jetpack by WordPress.com plugin.

3. Once activated, click the “Connect to WordPress.com” button

4. Input your WordPress.com account information you created in Step 1 and click “Authorize Jetpack’

5. For me, it seemed to be taking forever to connect, so I just clicked back to my blogs.henrico.k12.va.us account, and it had connected.
6. In your Dashboard, you should have a Jetpack bar on the left hand side–Click the Jetpack selection to get to your account information

7. In the Jetpack Settings, find the box labeled “Post by Email,” and click the Configure button.

8. Click the Enable Post By Email Button

9. ****IMPORTANT STEP**** The site will automatically generate YOUR PERSONAL email address that you will send your email posts to. When you are composing an email to make a post, this is the email that you alone will use. If you share this email out with others, and they use it, their emails will post to your blog page… I would suggest making a new address book card with this email address called Blog Post, so you can remember it. (note the email address shown is not an active address)

10. Click “Update Profile” at the bottom of the page and you are set!!
11. Go your your email, and start writing email and posting to your blog all at the same time! Hope you find this useful for saving you some time in updating your blog pages!
