During the previous school year, I ran across a website called MyLiveSignature. This is a really cool website that allows you to “sign” your blog posts. I have had a couple teachers ask me how to do it, and because of this, it prompted me to write a post to give directions on how to do it.
Creating your Signature:
1. Go to MyLiveSignature.
2. Click Register and make an account.
3. Once registered and logged in, click the 3rd tab over – “New Sig.”
4. When you get to this step you have three different options. You can either use their signature creation wizard, draw your signature yourself, or upload a scanned signature. I just used their creation wizard because there are a ton of options. Doing the second option could be hard if you only have a mouse/trackpad, but if you have a Promethean board you could easily do the second option.
5. We’ll continue using the signature creation wizard – click the first link.
6. Type in what you want your signature to say. Mr. Hart worked fine for me.
7. Here’s where you can spend tons of time – There are 120 different fonts to choose from. Go ahead and play, I’ll be here when you are done………………………….
8. Okay, so you’ve picked the one you like best. Click the button of the font you wanted, scroll down, and click the “Next Step” button.
9. Now you will pick 1 of the 10 different sizes that you want your “signature” to be. Pick your size and click “Next Step.”
10. The next step is to pick the background color and font color. I would suggest picking the background color for your “signature” to be the same as the background of your blog. It looks less clunky that way. Click “Next Step” once you have picked your color scheme.
11. The last option you have is to pick the type of slope you want. I thought this was a clever idea since we don’t sign our real signatures on a perfect straight line with a pen. It just makes it more real. Click “Next Step” to finish creating your signature.
12. Finally, pick the name for this file. I would just name it the same thing as the “signature” itself unless you are making multiple “Mr. Hart” signatures. Click the “Finish” button, and it will automatically save into your “My Sigs” section of your account.
Inserting into your posts:
There are two different ways to insert your made signatures into your posts. The first option is saving it as an image, but when you use the image it adds a thin grey border around your signature. If that doesn’t bother you, go for it. If that does bother you, using the HTML created code is the way to go.
First Option: Insert as an image: (Not my Favorite)
1. Click the “My Sigs” Tab
2. Right click the image and save it to your computer. (On a Mac, hold the CTRL button and click the signature, and then click “save image as…”
3. Insert the signature file into your media library and insert it into your post as a picture.
Second Option: Insert HTML Code into Post:
1. Click the “Use Sigs” Tab in MyLiveSignature
2. Click the “Generate HTML code” Link
3. Click the “Generate a code for your ‘handwritten’ signature” link
4. Pick the Signature you created and click the Generate Code Button
5. The website will generate a code for you. Highlight and copy that code.
6. Paste that exact code at the end of your Blog Post—Make sure you are on the HTML Tab and not the Visual Tab, or it won’t convert your code into your signature.
I know there were a lot of steps involved, but they are really quick and easy steps. If you have any questions, feel free to ask! Have a great time signing your posts!
Sincerely,
