Search and You Will Find: Research Skills for Elementary

At this year’s half day January technology contact meeting, Karen Hues and I gave a presentation, Search and You Will Find: Research Skills for Elementary. As a result of the secondary Reflective Friends observations, we discovered that we were weakest in the the Research and Information Fluency area of 21st Century Skills. As a strong reminder: Elementary students are NOT allowed to use Google as a search engine. The purpose of this in-service, Search and You Will Find: Research Skills for Elementary, was to explain the importance of safe searching and using copyright free materials. We also provided the attendees with resources they could use in the classroom for kid-safe searching, copyright free clipart/images, as well as royalty-free music.
