VOTE FOR ME – Political Ad

Summary

In this project students, in groups of two, will create their own political TV ads. They must create a candidate, a political party, and describe what they would do as an elected official. Using the information that they learned about political parties within their unit, the ads could bring forth comparisons between themselves and fictional candidates or they could run against President Obama in 2012.

The ads could be done on any technology program they feel they would excel in and must be no longer than 1 minute. Elements of the ad they would be graded on his style, and appearance. Students will also need to have a well-defined message in their ad about what they are running for and why they would be the best candidate.

TIPC Ratings

Approaching – Students researched various political ads from previous elections. They used various advanced search techniques, and also constructed questions that guided their researching in what are the characteristics of a good political campaign.

Approaching – Students worked in their groups with specific roles and responsibilities. A rubrics was also used by the group for per evaluation. The top 10 student works were reviewed by all classes and reviewed to determine the students top pick.

Approaching – Students created their product based on researched criteria of successful campaign ads. The students needed to be able to justify their decision on including media and the script they created. They also used digital tools to solve their authentic tasks based on their ad’s criteria.

Ideal/Target Students created a digital product developed from an authentic task. Their original work was created using student selected tools and presented in a variety of formats.
