Jan. 21-24

We have had lots of fun learning this week!

In reading this week, we researched Bats since they are hibernating animals. Every day we wrote new facts we learned about bats from reading books and researching on Pebblego.  We are currently making a video of each child recording something they learned about bats! Ask your child to tell you something they know. You’ll be surprised!

In math, we finished learning number bonds to 3.

The children enjoyed learning about Martin Luther King, Jr. this week. We know that his birthday was in January and he wanted all people to be treated equally.

Next week’s agenda:

Language Arts:Relate previous experiences

Poem: Little Groundhog

The student will compare two objects or events, using direct comparisons, according to one or more of the following attributes: length (longer, shorter), height (taller, shorter), weight (heavier, lighter), temperature (hotter, colder), volume (more, less), and time (longer, shorter).

Vocabulary: length, longer, shorter, height, taller, shorter, weight, heavier, lighter, temperature, hotter, colder, volume, more, less, time, compare

  • What does it mean to measure something?
  • When do we need to measure length?
  • When do we need to measure height?

Science: Shadows

The student will investigate and understand that shadows occur when light is blocked by an object. Key concepts include a) shadows occur in nature when sunlight is blocked by an object; and b) shadows can be produced by blocking artificial light sources.

  • How is a shadow produced (made)?
  • Who or what produces shadows?
  • How can shadows change?
