Quote of the Week

Highlights

This week’s experience included participating in the visioning meeting for the new QMS at Mosely Architects, a secondary principal meeting, and school visits.

**Feel free to share ideas and/or the great things that are happening at your schools throughout the year and I will include them in this section.

Principal Updates

Administrative Opportunities: The middle school assistant principal and associate principal generic postings are now open.

AP/Intern Training: This is a reminder that AP/Intern training for the Teacher Evaluation Process will take place Tuesday, February 20th, at Henrico High School from 8:30-11:00.

Laptop Collection Process Reminder: This is a friendly reminder about our mandatory laptop collection process. As we approach the end of the school year in coming months, it’s important that we efficiently collect all student laptops. Here are the key points to remember:

  1. Collection Summary: The collection process requires an “all hands-on deck” approach. All laptops for students not participating in any summer coursework must be collected before the last day of school. Students enrolled in approved summer programs will retain their laptops.
  2. Planning: Determine your storage and collection locations considering factors like Wi-Fi signal, access to electrical outlets, security, etc. High schools should start collection for seniors before exams and underclass collection 2 weeks before the end of school. Middle schools should start collection 5-10 days before the last day.
  3. Communications and Setup: Technology will provide daily collection reports. Collected laptops and chargers must be stored in a secure location.
  4. Collection: Students are accountable for the last device they were issued. They will not be credited for a return if they present another student’s laptop or charger. The assigned student will be credited for the device that is turned in.
  5. Recommendations: 9th and 10th grade students should be collected from PE classes, 11th and 12th from History or Government classes, and Middle School students from PE classes. A team of at least 4 staff members should be working 4 stations with their assigned laptop and a barcode scanner.

Please remember that any deviation from this plan must be approved by the Director of School Leadership, including notification to the Director of Technology.

TAC Representation: Please remind your TAC representatives to attend TAC meetings and provide you and your staff updates from the meetings. The attendance was extremely low on Monday, February 12th. Our next meeting is March 18th at North Park Library, and our final meeting will be May 8th at New Bridge.
