First Grade Flash
September 18, 2017 Welcome!
It was great to see so many of you at Back to School Night! We are so
excited about our fifth year at Kaechele and want to build strong
relationships with all our families. Please subscribe to our First Grade Blog
to stay up to date on all grade level and school information.
Our first graders are remembering more of our daily routines and we have
established our classroom rules. It helps us accomplish so much more at
school when you are able to tie in consequences for choices at home.
When children know the grown-ups in their lives are acting as a “TEAM”,
they tend to rise to the occasion!
We will begin formal handwriting. Encourage your child to check for
accuracy as s/he forms letters and even numbers, and watch out for
backwards formations. Please make sure your child forms letters
accurately as s/he writes at home. There is nothing worse than messy
practice that makes incorrect letter formation a habit!
This week, we will be focusing on the scientific process and using the five
senses to be excellent observers . We will be making predictions based on
our observations and will be doing some simple experiments to make
predictions. As we learn about patterns and shapes in math we will discuss
the attributes that each shape possesses. Encourage your child to observe
things at home as well!
Please remember that Thursday, September 21st is a half day. Dismissal
will begin at 11:00 a.m.
