Columbus Ship Engineering

We worked in small groups to design some ‘ships’ to build our creative thinking skills and collaboration skills.  We then tested the designs to see if they would float and then how many blocks they would hold before sinking.  We really learned a LOT about design in this  project—from waterproofing materials to the size of a base to work from.  It was a great activity!  We will work as teams throughout the year to learn how to work together, talk to each other, plan first then build, allocate jobs, share work, and listen to each other’s ideas.  So much fun!
