Glance at a Golden week

WOO-HOO! We made it to Friday! Last HAT test was today! If your child was absent for any part of the test, they can make it up next week when they return.

Thank you to those of you who have returned volunteer forms and lunch forms for Field Day. If I have not received your Field Day lunch form, you will find a bright yellow lunch request paper in your child’s folder.  Please check if you want to pack a lunch for your child or have them buy from our cafeteria. Return these on Tuesday, May 30th please!

Academically, next week:

Reading: We’ll read “The Mouse and the Motorcycle” by Beverly Cleary. We will be reviewing all reading concepts that have been covered this year as we enjoy this book. I will also be giving your child their last reading assessment to document their end of year reading level. Our goal is to read a Level M book with about 100 words read correctly per minute, and demonstrate satisfactory comprehension of the text.

Math:  We’ll practice many skills we learned this year- such as counting money, telling time, addition and subtraction, and problem solving. Also, the end of year math screener will be given to your child to assess their knowledge of problem solving and computation. This is not a grade, it is simply a measure of growth from fall to spring.

Writing: Time for CURSIVE! We will begin the transition into cursive writing, and spend time practicing writing our names and sight words in cursive.

Social Studies: We will begin the study of economics – how money is used in our community. Please use the study guide attached to next week’s homework.

Enjoy your 3 day weekend! We take time this weekend to remember and honor those who gave the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.
