Applause for another successful week of learning and working here in Room 29!
- Picture Day is Wednesday, November 2nd. Order forms came home today in the Daily Folder.
- Our next field trip is scheduled for Friday, November 18th. The permission slip is on pink paper in the Daily Folder. $6.00 (cash or money order) and permission slip are due back no later than Friday, November 11th.
- I only have 2 time slots left for Parent Teacher Conferences on November 10th. They are: 3:45 and 5:30. Please contact me if you want to set up a different day/time, or would like a phone conference- I’m happy to work around your schedule!
- Social Studies Map Projects are due Thursday, November 3rd. Parents are welcome to join our class at 1:00 that day to see the presentations of different maps that the children created.
- Science next week brings us into the water cycle and learning about weathering and erosion. There will be a quiz on erosion and weathering on Wednesday, November 2nd. Journals will go home for extra review. Additional review resources can be found in the “2nd Grade Curriculum Websites” tab under Science.
- In Math, we’re working on equality, using addition and subtraction to balance out equations such as 9+2=10+1. If a sentence is not equal, we call that inequality, and it is an equal sign with a line through it. Look for the sample problem in next week’s HW packet for explanation. Check out all of our Fact Family Fun by clicking on the “Adventures in Room 29” tab.
- Reading has us working on answering who, what, when, where, how, and why questions about text we are reading. We’ll share several fictional stories and practice this skill. We’re also going to learn about synonyms and antonyms. Additional review resources can be found in the “2nd Grade Curriculum Websites” tab under Reading.
