HCPS is proud to announce that we are partners with the The President’s Volunteer Service Award for the second year. Last year was our pilot year and 22 students received a certificate signed by the President of the United States and other recognitions.

This year, students from 6th grade to 12th grade can earn this honor for community service. To earn the President’s Volunteer Service Award, students must meet the requirements established by the PVSA.

This include:

  • completing the set number of hours between the months of April 1, 2016 to March 30, 2017;
  • Students under 15 must complete 50 hours during this time period;
  • Students over 15 must complete 100 hours during this time period
  • Students must complete an essay question, “What Volunteerism has Meant to Me.”

Each student will turn in their community service logs to the Community Service Leader in the school to make sure the requirements have been met.

If you have any questions, please email Mike Hasley at mjhasley@henrico.k12.va.us.
