Prospective Students –

Please join us for the Center for the Arts Open House on Monday, November 21, 2016 in the Henrico High School Auditorium.  The event begins with a general session at 7:00 p.m. where you will learn about the CFA program and high school curriculum, followed by breakout sessions for the CFA curriculum areas.  You may attend 2 breakout sessions, choosing among the 4 curriculum areas of dance, musical theatre, theatre and visual arts.   The evening concludes with a reception provided by our booster organizaiton, Friends of Center for the Arts.  We hope to see you on the 21st to share what CFA has to offer you!

Students interested in applying to the Center for the Arts for the 2017-2018 school year are invited to attend the Gallery Preview and Invitational Dress Rehearsal of the CFA Fall Showcase on Thursday November 17, 2016.  The gallery opens at 6:00 p.m. followed by the performing arts showcase at 7:00 p.m.  Please join us!

Congratulations to CFA Visual Arts students Samantha Conner (CFA VA Level III) and Jajsani Roane (CFA VA Level IV) for having their art work displayed as part of the VCU School of Education 2016-2017 Metro Art Exhibit!

The Opening Exhibit and Recognition Program took place at VCU on Sunday, October 23.  If you missed the event, you still have plenty of time to see Samantha’s and Jajsani’s artwork on display!  The artwork will remain on display on the 4^th floor of VCU’s Oliver Hall (1015 W. Main Street, corner of Main and Harrison Streets) until May 2017.  You are welcome to come by anytime the VCU campus is open and in session!

Congratulations also to their CFA Art Teachers, Ms. Dowdy (Level III) and Ms. Scurlock (Level IV)!

Many students, faculty, staff and parents have seen the FANTASTIC new spirit wear being work around the school and have asked to be able to purchase additional Spirit Wear. You have asked and we have listened.

 To be sure we can have delivery in time for the holidays, the store will be open again beginning Monday, October 31, 2016 and will stay open through Tuesday, November 8.

 Note: A total of 24 pieces of Spirit Wear must be ordered in order for the final store to be processed. If for any reason, we do not have 24 pieces ordered, the store will close, credit/debit cards will be credited and the order will not be processed.  Hoping this does not happen, but wanted everyone to be aware.

There will be an interest meeting for those students who are interested in auditioning/applying for the Summer Governor’s School for the Visual and Performing Arts.  Only current sophomores or juniors are eligible to apply.  The interest meeting will be held on Monday, October 24 from 4:10-4:50 in the CFA Black Box Theatre.

The Governor’s School for the Arts in Norfolk, VA is sponsoring an Arts College Fair, October 7-8, 2016, open to all high school students. Master Classes, Auditions, Portfolio Reviews – sign up online at www.gsarts.net.     FREE!

If  you want to learn more about attending a specialty center in Henrico County, you’ll want to attend one of the Information Sessions.  There are four opportunites to attend a session; dates are listed below.  All sessions start with a general presentation at 7:00 p.m. followed by 3 break out sessions where you will learn more details about 3 centers in which you are most interested.  We hope you will visit the session for the Center for the Arts and also attend our Open House on November 21, 2016!

CFA dance, musical theatre and theatre students taking the 9th Grade online health class must attend a MANDATORY meeting with Ms. Bohon on Thursday, September 22 in the HHS Library from 6-7pm.  A parent must also attend.  Course expectations will be discussed.  Bring your laptop!  The course carries a $100 fee that must be paid by September 22.
