Student Communication (AAC) Portfolio

Have you ever inherited a student with an iPad? or a student that the IEP said “uses communication supports” or a “communication board” but it was never explained what it looks like or how it is used?    Let’s all work together and make sure that doesn’t happen.   We all know that communication is an dynamic, on-going learning experience for all students!   What was said in the most recent IEP may or may not best describe the current communication skills of the student.   Please take the time at the end of the year to complete the Student Communication (AAC) Portfolio.   It is a great way for next year’s or ESY teachers to know what level of communication is using and what prompts are needed for the child to communicate.  Other great ways to support our teachers and related service providers are to take pictures of the communication system, videos of the student using to share, and to offer trainings if you know the student is transitioning to a new team.  You can share this information through free Dropbox Accounts or through your Google Drive.   The AT Department will be happy to help!
