Readers Are Leaders

This lesson is for : Grade 6:

Summary

Michael Hyatt believes that “A readership crisis is really a leadership crisis.” Reading makes us better thinkers, improves our people skills, and helps us master communication skills. After a unit focusing solely on independent reading, students create informative, persuasive, and entertaining book-talks. Working in collaborative groups, students gain digital storytelling and production skills while sharing reading materials they enjoy with their classmates, as well as practicing writing with a purpose. Creating their book talks require them to use all the skills needed to become a true leader- thinking, identifying with people, and communicating with the world around them.
