3rd Grade Travel Project- 4164

Summary

Students use their knowledge of the continents and oceans to research many different continents. They discover many aspects of a self-selected continent in a group setting. They are challenged to choose one of six project choices from a menu board to help persuade other travelers to vacation in their continent by creating a billboard, a comercial using a flipcamera of photobooth, creating a slideshow on keynote, making a radio commercial on garageband, designing a brochure using a pages template or creating their own idea for advertising. Students will share their projects with the class and post them on the classroom blog for others to see. Other third grade students will vote via a Quia poll on which continet they would like to visit based on the advertisements created. As a conclusion, students will use a rubric to self-assess their project and their ability to work effectively in a group.

TIPC Ratings

The students develop different research questions based on their interests of their continent. They then select an appropriate search enguine to research their continent and questions they developed. The students use tools to powerfuly display and interact with information by using their reasearch to create group presentations.

Students posted their final products on the classroom blog and shared with the entire third grade. The other thrid grade students then voted for their favorite project via a Quia poll.

Using a choice board, students select the most appropriate digital tool to develop their task with their group, as well as, developed appropriate questions to power their research. They then use a self-assessment to reflect on their roles in the group and determine the strengths and weaknesses of their group to set goals for future projects.

Students use their knowledge of their continent to create a new product that influences others to travel to their continent. They work within and beyond the assignments perameters and given rubric to finalize their original product. The self-assessing rubric will serve as a tool to reflect on the creativity of their project and how to set goals for future growth.
