Engaged in Vivid Words

Summary

The purpose of this lesson is to reinforce vivid words in writing. The students found vivid words in a passage, brainstormed a list of vivid words and wrote an original passage using vivid words.

 

TIPC Ratings

While all strands of the TIPC are important and should be addressed, this lesson is focused on Communication and Collaboration. There are ways to increase the level of research and Information Fluency but they may not tie as closely to the learning outcomes focused on in this lesson.

Approaching: The teacher uses multiple effective communication methods during this lesson. Students self monitor to minimize classroom disruptions while they interact with the ActivInspire software.  Students use ActivEngage to communicate their knowledge with the class.  Students access and contribute to the class blog to demonstrate their understanding of vivid words.

Developing: Students are creating specific products in this lesson. They create a list of vivid words to describe given topics. They create a passage on the blog from the given list and incorporating the vivid words.
