Thank you NCAAHPERD!!

What a wonderful weekend in Winston-Salem.  I met some terrific, friendly and talented teachers from all over the state of North Carolina and I hope that we keep connected.  Thanks for coming to my sessions and please let me know what I can do for you.  I’m always looking for my next project.

Take care and keep in touch!

JMU, here I come!

I am excited and a little terrified to announce that I will again be the Monday night keynote presenter for this year’s JMU HPAI conference!  AAAAAAAHH!  SO EXCITED!  I guess somebody liked what I did in 2016 and I’m honored to be asked again.  My previous experience was one of the best moments of my life so I know it will be super fun.  Heck, just to be dancing with some of my most favorite people on this planet is so wonderful!

Over the past year I have created at least 6 new dances and I will be spending the next few weeks writing up the dance notation, filming and posting.  (I think I can, I think I can…)  Stay tuned for more dances to come. 😉

2 New Videos

I am in love with my 2 latest dances.  I hope you love them too.  I just posted links to Faith and Surfin‘.

I had envisioned Faith to be performed by my staff for my students at a pep rally or as a surprise performance at our Dancing With the Stars PTA night.  I love how it talks about having faith in you.  During the chorus the dancers pony to a partner and then do the twist facing each other.  Then they pony to another partner and do the jerk before they pony back to their home position and finish the dance facing the audience.

For Surfin‘ it’s a 4-Wall dance that makes a quarter turn counter-clockwise at the end of the phrase.  It repeats 8 full times so that you can make two full rotations.  I made a hybrid of the grapevine with the funky chicken to make a “funky grape”.  Don’t forget to keep you knees bent for better knee action, and BOY you’ll feel it in your quads and hamstrings.  Very Hawaiian/Hula like!

What a great weekend!

Thank you to everyone that came out to the VAHPERD Convention in Roanoke, VA!  It was wonderful to see all of you and I truly appreciate your participation at Angee Booker and my session HIT TO FIT.  Please contact me if you have any comments or concerns; always looking for feedback to be better.  A HUGE THANK YOU to Angee for being my presentation buddy. Although it was her first conference presentation she ROCKED IT!

New dance. Check it out.

Lots of schools are doing a Superhero theme.  I was given this great piece of music and the challenge to create a dance for a select group of 5th graders to perform it at their Field Day opening ceremonies.  I was not sure how well the group would do so I geared the dance towards any 3rd grade student or higher.  Hope you enjoy. 🙂

No more Shake Senora.

So, I’ve made the executive decision to remove Shake Senora from my blog videos.  The song has questionable lyrics (“got a big ol booty”) and I’d rather keep this blog site free of controversy.  If you feel that your venue can handle this and you’d still like to do the dance you can go to Vimeo.com and still access the video there.  I’ve attached that link below.

Thanks, and keep dancing! 🙂
