Reading Resources

The more students are read to and read, the more their reading skills improve and their vocabulary grows! One way to motivate a student to LOVE reading is to allow them to select theFlat Stanley 002ir own reading material — comics, magazines, recipe books, mysteries, historical, science fiction, etc. — on topics they are interested in. Our school incorporates weekly library check out and daily read aloud/independent reading into our routine so that students can read selections that motivate and excite them. And PLEASE, please read to your child every night!

eBooks have been popular recently! Some of these books are even read by famous actors and actresses. National Geographic Kids has 37 non-fiction magazines for kids with audio available that will read the words to the kids. This could be a great resource to follow along with the story, silent read together, and help with fluency at home.
