Diploma Program

What is the Diploma Programme?

The Diploma Program provides a rigorous course of study for students in grades 11 and 12.  Students study six academic subjects chosen from the school’s offerings and complete three core requirements designed to challenge and to broaden the academic experience. The three core requirements are:

  1. Theory of Knowledge, a course uniting their learning in the six subject areas and in which “students gain greater awareness of their personal and ideological assumptions, as well as developing an appreciation of the diversity and richness of cultural perspectives (International Baccalaureate Organization, 2023).”
  2. The Extended Essay, which is a deep dive into an academic subject of the student’s choice. During the 11th grade, students research a topic and write a paper in preparation for college-level research. This experience is structured and supported by Extended Essay Supervisors.
  3. Creativity, Activity, Service, the extension of learning outside the walls of our classrooms. Students explore their own interests in a variety of areas and reflect on their progress and learning.

The Diploma Programme offers a balanced approach to preparing students for college.
